Spiritual Formation

Spiritual formation

Throughout the New Testament Jesus constantly invites people from all walks of life to follow him.  These people are called disciples.

Being a disciple is not an advanced spiritual condition.  It often means being very green.  It is someone undergoing a process of spiritual formation.

It can be messy.  It can be hard.  It can be confusing.  Which is why we think church should be primarily about people helping each other on this journey.

Read below and find out how to get started or take a next step in your life with Christ.

Discipleship Groups

Meet with 6-12 people on a regular basis who are hungry to pursue God in an intentional way.  Groups meet for 90 minutes to two hours to study the Bible, pray, and wrestle with the intersection of God and life.  It's a critical component for anyone who wants to grow in their relationship with Jesus.

Discipleship Groups meet throughout the week at various locations in McHenry County.  Winter Groups last ~10 weeks (mid-January through March).

Baptism
Life.  New birth.  Washed clean.  Dying to that which destroys us.

It's how the Bible describes baptism.

If you haven't been baptized, take an intentional step in your walk with Christ and come to the water.

Three times per year Fellowship of Faith celebrates Baptism Sunday, a huge worship event for people who want to be baptized, have their child baptized, or renew their baptism.

Our next Baptism Sunday is May 20, 2012.

If you would like to be baptized or have your child baptized,

contact Pastor Dave at pastor@fellowshipoffaith.org.

Lectio Divina
Latin for Divine Reading, Lectio is an ancient tradition of reading the scripture accompanied by prayer. It's meant to help people hear God who is speaking, and in praying, respond to him with the trust of an open heart.
